GOD IS HOLY
We cannot imagine a God who could be anything but perfect
holiness. To be holy means to be free from all defilement, to be pure. God is
absolutely pure. Hab. 1:13. “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and
canst not look on iniquity.”
God turned from His own Son dying on Calvary. Ex. 15:11.
“Who is like unto Thee, O Lord . . . glorious in holiness.”
I Sam. 2:2, “There is non holy as the Lord: for there is
none beside Thee.”
Isa. 6:3, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts.”
I Pet. 1:15, 16, “But as He which hath called you is holy,
so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, be ye holy;
for I am holy.”
The holiness of God separated Him from fallen man. Eph.2:23,
“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the
blood of Christ.”
The only way that man can approach this holy God is through
the blood of Christ.
God is holy. God hate sin. His holy wrath must punish sin.
This is the explanation of Isa. 53:6, when the Father forsook and punished His
Son on Calvary.
God’s love to sinners will never be appreciated until seen
in the light of His blazing wrath against sin.
The holiness of God demanded punishment for sin. This demand
was voluntarily assumed by the Saviour on the cross and completely satisfied
the Father.
